Heine is still fighting down the instinct to consume it all, to press harder and crush the very life out of the one who'd tried to control him.

But both ways are wrong. Heine is looking at Jade without seeing him, and when the Fiendfyre streaks towards his face he drops all of force he's using to pin Jade against the wall so he can divert the flames around himself.
